Hiki Ana

Hawaiian for 'It's Possible' Hiki Ana is a concrete sculpture that I fabricated in Stephen Freedman's sculpture garden in Kurtistown here on the Big Island. This piece started as five pieces of wire and sat on the window sill in my studio for several years. Our son, Peter, liked it and kept it in his apartment while he was at UH. When he graduated it returned to the windowsill until one day I decided to flesh it out in oil clay. I liked the design so, when Stephen offered me a space in his garden I scaled it up to what you see here. An artistic journey of 12 to 15 years.
